Research + Resources + Relationships

Welcome to BRDG Park’s BioBuzz Blog! The BioBuzz Blog will provide up-to-date news about BRDG Park tenants’ activities in the areas of ag-bio, food and nutrition, biofuels, animal health, sustainable materials and clean-tech.

BRDG Park, which features a mix of enterprises and innovative partnerships, aspires to be the world’s leading plant and life sciences bio-park helping companies grow, and building the thriving plant and life science base in St. Louis. The first building of what has been designed as a three building research park opened in June of 2009 with a $36 million investment by Wexford Science and Technology.  Today, 13 enterprises comprised of 300 people call the BRDG Park Building One home and are making a positive economic impact on the region.

“BRDG Park’s life-science ecosystem is designed to support growth, collaboration and commerce.” says Mark Gorski, Business Development Officer. “We look for companies that have technology related to agriculture and the plant and life sciences that share some of the same visions as Danforth Center.”

Baltimore-based Wexford Science + Technology LLC, developer of BRDG Park, specializes in real estate solutions for high technology and life sciences companies.  They have been active in the St. Louis market since 2000 and continue to play a key role in BRDG Park’s future. “We were excited by the opportunity to team up with the Danforth Plant Science Center to help scientists and entrepreneurs achieve commercial scientific success and are pleased with the success of BRDG Park thus far.  Our approach, as with all of our parks, has been to do everything possible to help emerging companies have access to facilities and resources they need to plant deep roots and grow.  That includes specialized space for the needs of science and buildings that can meet and adapt to evolving science and technology,” said Jim Berens, Wexford Chairman and BRDG Park board member.

In addition to being situated at the national and international center for plant and life science research, in the heartland of American agriculture, BRDG Park is uniquely prepared to provide the Research + Resources + Relationships necessary to help fledgling companies span the transition from innovative ideas to tangible commercial businesses.  Tenants will not only have convenient access to the Danforth Center’s technologically advanced greenhouse, growth chambers, microscopy and proteomics facilities, but also the intellectual capital of top research scientists.

Sam Fiorello, Chief Operating Officer of Danforth Center and President of BRDG Park stated, “St. Louis has a vibrant agriculture and plant-science business community and the collaboration between Wexford, BRDG Park, and the Danforth Center gives us an exceptional opportunity to be recognized as a global plant science hub that fosters both the growth of innovative agriculture and plant-science companies and the creation of a more efficient capital market to fund them.”
