Young-Friends-HHYoung Friends Happy Hour

Where: Donald Danforth Plant Science Center

Young Friends is a group of professionals, 40 and under, who support the Danforth Center’s mission to improve the human condition through plant science, including our efforts to enhance St. Louis as a world center for agtech, bioscience and other industries that are defining the future of our region. Guests have the opportunity to socialize and network with other young professional to learn about the local bioscience ecosystem while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Natalie DiNicola, president of DiNicola, LLC, a consulting service for private and public sector clients interested in sustainability, agriculture development and public-private partnerships and member of the Danforth Center Leadership Council (DLC) will speak on her passion for sustainable food security.

This event will feature diverse professionals, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial resource support organizations, startup organizations and corporations in a multi-track format, along with a keynote speaker and networking reception. Attendees will be able to learn about career and entrepreneurial prospects in bioscience, information technology and advanced manufacturing, see new opportunities at the growing intersections of these fields, hear from people who have successfully entered these industries and meet corporate partners seeking talent and innovate ideas.

MURMURATION LOGOThe St. Louis Murmuration Festival
When: September 23 – 25, 2016
Where: Cortex Innovation Community

Murmuration is a new, 3-day festival that will explore the patterns created when art, science and technology converge. Located throughout the Cortex Innovation Community, the event brings together artists, musicians, innovators, scientists and entrepreneurs to engage the public and share their work via conversations, talks, panel discussions and musical performances. Some elements of the festival require tickets, such as the music and thought series, and others elements are completely free to attend.

GlobalHackGlobalHack VI
When: October 21 – 23, 2016
Where: Chaifetz Arena

GlobalHack VI will bring together software developers, graphic designers, technologists and entrepreneurs from around the world to solve a single civic technology problem centered around homelessness. Hundreds of participants across youth, collegiate and pro divisions will work in teams to solve this problem by building software solutions over the course of an entire weekend. One million in cash prizes will be awarded to the top teams, including $250,000 in follow-on funds that will be used to take the most promising prototypes generated at the event to market.
