Economic Growth through Innovation
The growth of the region’s economy is central to the mission of the Danforth Plant Science Center. With this in mind, the Center partnered with Wexford Science +Technology, LLC, a real estate investment and development company that meets the needs of specialized facilities, to build the Bio Research & Development Growth (BRDG) Park on the Center’s north eight acres. BRDG Park provides the research, resources and relationships necessary to help plant and life sciences and clean-tech companies from the incubation stage to post-incubation stage achieve commercial success.
BRDG Park is home to 10 enterprises that employ 200 people. Of those 10 entities, three are from the St. Louis region. The seven “imports” are from across the United States as well as Germany, Israel and India.
The Ag Innovation Showcase
A joint effort between BRDG Park, the Danforth Center and the Larta Institute is the signature event focusing on the convergence of agriculture and technology. It brings together those with a significant stake in the industry to promote investment in cutting-edge technology and biotechnology. By spurring innovation of smart agricultural technologies, the Ag Innovation Showcase has set the stage for new funding, strategic partnerships and interactive dialogue in the areas of ag-bio, precision ag, food and nutrition, biofuels, sustainable materials, clean-tech, animal health and information technology. www.agshowcase.com, @AgShowcase
