Economic Growth through Innovation

The growth of the region’s economy is central to the mission of the Danforth Plant Science Center. With this in mind, the Center partnered with Wexford Science +Technology, LLC, a real estate investment and development company that meets the needs of specialized facilities, to build the Bio Research & Development Growth (BRDG) Park on the Center’s north eight acres. BRDG Park provides the research, resources and relationships necessary to help plant and life sciences and clean-tech companies from the incubation stage to post-incubation stage achieve commercial success.

  • In 2009 the first of three buildings opened. Two
additional buildings will ultimately provide 450,000 square feet of world-class laboratory and research space
  • Earned a coveted Gold LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council
  • Provides tenants with interactions between top scientists and other resources
  • Tenants have access to critical core facilities such as research grade greenhouses, growth rooms and chambers, microscopy, proteomics and mass spectrometry and tissue culture and transformation

BRDG Park is home to 10 enterprises that employ 200 people. Of those 10 entities, three are from the St. Louis region. The seven “imports” are from across the United States as well as Germany, Israel and India.
